New FC Cincinnati Stadium Invests in Top Turf Protection
Cincinnati, OH - FC Cincinnati is a relatively new addition to Major League Soccer, playing out of Nippert Stadium at the University of Cincinnati since 2019. But it will be a very different experience for players and fans alike when the team starts the 2021 season in their newly built West End Stadium.
The 26,000-spectator venue has been in the works for about two years with an official opening scheduled for March 2021. The stadium is an impressive one with 53 suites, a natural grass field, the latest in lighting technology, a 150-foot-wide video board and a 360-degree roof canopy designed to cover every seat.
It’s no surprise that such an expansive project would need the latest in field protection. This fall, Covermaster® supplied Evergreen® turf covers and Raincover Ultra™ field tarps to keep the field healthy and well-protected. Approximately 97,000 square feet of Evergreen® Spectrum model turf protector will help speed up seed germination and promote deep root development over the winter. The signature orange Spectrum turf blankets can be installed, removed, and stored using five new TarpMateAir™ rollers, ordered in custom 80-foot lengths.
Winter turf blankets offer protection from wind, ice, snow, and frost which are ideal for quick turf repairs. The lightweight turf growth blankets stand up to years of regular use and are easily installed and removed in a short time.
The stadium also ordered four sections of Raincover Ultra™ field tarps in white/silver, to help minimize heat buildup during warmer months and keep the turf cool and dry, along with an additional four TarpMate Air™ rollers.
