Coronation Park in Edmonton Gets MASTERSHIELD TRAX™ Turf Protection

Edmonton, Alberta - COVERMASTER® modular event flooring perfect solution for muti-use events on turf.

When the new Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre officially opens in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on January 27, 2026, it will be fully integrated with the adjacent Peter Hemmingway Aquatic Centre and become the first indoor triathlon training center in North America. Cyclists are already using the indoor velodrome and this past summer, the City of Edmonton approached COVERMASTER® to obtain turf protection event flooring.

With athletic fields and green spaces adjacent to the Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre, the city wanted the ability to protect turf from special events and other non-athletic activities. They ordered 2,400 square feet of COVERMASTER® MASTERSHIELD TRAX™. These 4 by 4-foot panels are lightweight for easy handling and once locked in place, form a seamless surface.

MASTERSHIELD TRAX™ has reinforced, structural ribbing for added strength and large overlap for uniform lateral load transfer between panels. Its high, built-in load spread capability will protect turf from chairs to staging, lighting trusses, and speaker towers. It can also be used as a temporary roadway for such heavy equipment as forklifts, large trucks, and cranes.
