Inflatable Sports Dome Protects the Washington Commanders Practice Field From Winter Weather
Washington, D.C. - Grounds crew can continue to work underneath the inflated MACLEOD COVER™ system.
To defend against such winter conditions as snow, rain, and extreme cold on the football field at BigBear.ai Performance Center, the grounds crew of the Washington Commanders, an NFC East team in the NFL (National Football League), uses the inflatable MACLEOD COVER™ from COVERMASTER®. This inflatable field cover protects the entire field to keep the weather out and allow the grounds crew to maintain and prepare the field for practice.
Made from a translucent, waterproof, and lightweight material, the inflatable MACLEOD COVER™ allows natural light and airflow to reach the natural grass turf below to allow for photosynthesis to occur. Each unit includes full length, restraint webbing, and a toothless, high performance zipping system for quick and easy installation. It’s a semi-automated field protection system like no other in the marketplace.
Once in place, a support tube with air flow and ducting vents is attached to a specially- designed natural gas burner and centrifugal fan that inflates the cover and heats up the air underneath the MACLEOD COVER™ from COVERMASTER®. Winter weather is kept outside so the Washington Commanders grounds crew can work inside to prepare the turf for practice, including using tractors and other field equipment. There’s nothing quite like it!
