Miyagi Prefecture, Japan - Xebio Arena Sendai ensures quick arena conversion with COVERMASTER® ice arena flooring.

Located in Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, the Xebio Arena Sendai underwent a major renovation in 2024 to build a permanent international size ice rink. Supported by two-time Olympic skating champion, Yuzuru Hanyu, and in partnership with major sports retailer Xebio Holdings, Xebio Arena Sendai now provides year-round training for skaters. It also continues to be the home of the Sendai 89ers of the B League in Japan's professional basketball.

To convert the arena ice surface for non-ice events, Xross Sports Marketing came to COVERMASTER® for its ICEMATE™ ice rink flooring system. ICEMATE™ solid, 4 by 8-foot panels weigh 64 lbs each and have a 2.9 R-Factor. They can be quickly installed by eight or 10 arena staff in about an hour. Once an event or basketball game is finished, ICEMATE™ can be easily removed and the ice surface prepped for use.

COVERMASTER® ICEMATE™ not only protects the ice rink surface below, it also provides a durable barrier of protection from such non-ice rink activities as Sendai 89ers basketball, concerts, Japan Pro Wrestling events, and 3x3 basketball. Xebio Arena Sendai now has the ability to host a wider range of multi-use activities without compromising the condition and quality of the ice surface below.
