DEL MAR RACE TRACK CONTINUES ITS WINNING WAYS WITH EVERGREEN®

Del Mar, CA - EVERGREEN® RADIANT Turf Covers are a sure bet for top racing conditions.

Known for attracting top owners, horses, riders, and trainers, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Racetrack was built in 1937 in the seaside community of Del Mar, California. It was funded through a partnership that included Bing Crosby, actor Pat O'Brien, Jimmy Durante, Charles S. Howard, and Oliver Hardy of the famed comedy duo, Laurel and Hardy. A year later, in 1938, Del Mar hosted a $25,000 winner-take-all race that saw the legendary Seabiscuit win by a nose over Ligaroti.

In 2012, a new grass turf was installed at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racetrack, as part of its major renovation. EVERGREEN® RADIANT Turf Covers from COVERMASTER® were used to accelerate turf growth and get the track into top racing condition. Throughout the years, Del Mar has continued to add to their program. In 2013, Del Mar ordered some 400 thousand square feet of EVERGREEN® RADIANT Turf Covers (about half the track) in 40 by 80-foot sections which were rolled up onto pipe when not in use.

Now, it takes less time to install and remove multiple covers on a single roller.
