The town of Arlington in Middlesex County, Massachusetts is steeped in history from the Europeans who emigrated there in 1635 and formed the village of Menotomy (Algonquian for "swift running water") to the incorporation of New Cambridge in 1807, and finally, renamed Arlington in 1867 to honor those buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

Today, Arlington has a population of over 46 thousand and a public school system of 10 schools – one of which is Arlington High School.
