Charlotte, NC - What do you do to prevent your natural grass or artificial turf football field from freezing up in colder weather? Tepper Sports & Entertainment wanted to avoid this at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina - home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC of MLS.

The 74,867-seat stadium features artificial turf in order to best accommodate large, non-athletic events including concerts and major conventions. To ensure that the field doesn’t freeze up for football during colder weather, Tepper Sports & Entertainment approached COVERMASTER® about the MACLEOD INFLATABLE FIELD COVER™. Made from a translucent, waterproof, lightweight material, this field protection system combines 4 sections by fitting them together with a unique, toothless high performance zipping system.

Covering the entire playing field, an 18-foot diameter support tube containing air flow and ducting vents runs inside along the center length of the field. Specially designed gas burners and blower fans are located at each end of the tube. Once installed and inflated, the MACLEOD INFLATABLE FIELD COVER™ heats and protects the field from harsh and cold weather conditions. It also allows the grounds crew to work inside to take care of the maintenance of the field. Thanks to COVERMASTER®, Tepper Sports & Entertainment and the Carolina Panthers now have a playing field that is kept playable between games during colder weather conditions.
