New Lenox, IL - A new baseball field tarp will be keeping the turf cool and dry at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox, Illinois. Satisfied with the performance of their previous custom Raincover Plus™ infield cover, the school recently contacted Covermaster® in search of a replacement tarp.
This time, they opted for the silver/black Raincover Ultra™ field cover in a standard 160x160-foot size with vinyl-reinforced handles at 10-foot spacing on all sides. Though the new baseball field cover is more than 200 pounds lighter than other available field covers, it’s also strong enough to withstand hundreds of pounds of water. Its 100-percent sunblock protects the turf from damaging heat and a lower friction surface helps to resist dirt accumulation and make snow and ice removal easier.
The private school is known for its athletics program, holding a record 30 state championship titles. Included in those stats are the five state championships won by Providence Catholic Baseball, one of the state’s top baseball programs. Among the school’s noted alumni is Sam Travis, a first baseman traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Texas Rangers earlier this year.
After introducing lightweight field tarps to the industry over 35 years ago, Covermaster® has continued to redesign and develop cutting-edge materials designed to improve each tarp’s performance. Along with baseball infield tarps, the lineup includes optional accessories such as TarpMate™ inflatable air rollers, Sur-Hold™ vinyl sandbags and anchor stakes, storage covers, and easy-fix repair kits.
