West Wendover, NV - The Toana Vista Golf Club in West Wendover, Nevada would regularly use black painted sand to top dress their greens, protecting the grass from winter kill and drying winds. But when it became increasingly difficult to source the sand, the golf course Superintendent contacted Covermaster® in search of an alternative.

Evergreen® golf green covers turned out to be the perfect choice. There are drawbacks to using sand every year, and in addition to the yearly $10,000 investment, the golf club noticed changes in soil composition over time. There’s also the additional drying time needed before removing the sand and scheduling the first mow of the season. That’s why it made sense for the course to invest in Evergreen® golf course green covers for all 18 holes, along with their putting and practice greens, for next winter. Though the initial cost is higher, in just three years the green covers will prove to be the more economical choice.

Evergreen® golf turf blankets create a greenhouse effect that lets sun, air, and moisture reach the turf below. Any excess heat can be easily released through its unique weave with integrated lace coating, and in colder months, the golf turf blanket offers protection from wind desiccation, frost shock, and winter kill. Each cover is UV treated and resistant to rot and mildew, providing years of use.

Evergreen® Original turf covers have been sheltering greens for more than 35 years. The ideal addition to any turf management program, they can delay fall dormancy and produce earlier spring green-ups by two to three weeks. Golf courses can expect to see a longer growing season with thicker, healthier turf.
