COVERMASTER® has received the coveted 2022 “Innovative Award” from the Sports Field Management Association (SFMA) for its TARPMATE AIR™ Roller — a product that’s been called a “game changer” in the industry! Handed out to only four recipients this year, the award recognizes companies who have developed products, services, or technology that make fields safer and more playable for athletes.

The winning companies were selected by the SFMA’s Innovative Awards Task Group, which waded through applications in search of creative, time-saving products that could boost productivity, offer environmental protection, and improve overall efficiency in sports field management.

The COVERMASTER® inflatable tarp roller caught their attention with its system which reduces storage requirements and labor costs. Rather than the typical crew of six or more, just two to three people can install a cover by unrolling the tarp roller next to the field, inflating it, and rolling the cover on to the turf. Later it’s a matter of simply rolling the cover back on to the tarp roller, which is then deflated, and can be rolled up, stacked, and stored on pallets until its next use.

The TARPMATE AIR™ Roller has become so popular that its sales have vastly outpaced its predecessor. Anyone who has handled field tarps using traditional rollers is quick to describe the inflatable cover roller as a game changer. COVERMASTER® brought the innovative air tarp roller to market recently and its popularity has taken off since its introduction, particularly because the inflatable air roller “takes the wind out of the cover handling equation,” says COVERMASTER® President Ken Curry, creating a safer, more controlled environment for cover removal.

Receiving the award is humbling to COVERMASTER®, who continues to produce innovative solutions. “It’s an honor and a privilege to receive such recognition from an industry that we have supported and admired for over 35 years,” Ken said. “We’re always trying to bring new products to the marketplace to make groundskeepers’ lives easier and more efficient, and to provide better protection for their sports fields.”
