Winnipeg, Manitoba - Hockey is making its way back to the arenas for the 2020-21 season, and that’s big news for both players and fans. Though COVID-19 has posed challenges for the NHL’s teams, the Winnipeg Jets are ready to drop the puck as part of the newly aligned North Division. The Jets are among the seven Canadian teams playing in the travel-restricted division that will see them face off in the regular season and the first two rounds of playoffs. But fans are still prevented from attending games in person so arenas like the Bell MTS Place in downtown Winnipeg are using arena seat covers to improve visuals for the televised games. Though they were hopeful to receive provincial approval to play at home — they’ve since been given the green light — the Jets’ staff began working with the COVERMASTER® and The Look Company’s teams over the Christmas holidays to design, supply, and install custom seat covers halfway up and around the rink’s lower bowl. Bleacher seat covers made of polystretch fabric were printed with team branding in the Jets’ aviator blue and fitted onto frame structures for the first game in mid-January. These branded seat covers are designed to limit any glare from the overhead lighting to provide the best possible look on television. After a successful season that landed them a spot in the playoffs, the Winnipeg Jets continued a long playoff tradition at Bell MTS Place (now Canada Life Centre), during the COVID-19 pandemic; the Jets replaced their blue regular season seat covers with a vibrant set of white seat covers for their 2021 playoff run. Collaborating with COVERMASTER® and The LOOK Company on both occasions, this playoff version of the ‘Winnipeg White Out’ dates back to 1987, during the first iteration of the franchise.

Wichita, KS - Outfitted with new baseball field tarps and accessories, Riverfront Stadium in Wichita, Kansas is ready to kick off the 2021 season by finally welcoming their new Double-A team to the field. The Wichita Wind Surge, a minor league baseball team in the Texas League, were known as the New Orleans Baby Cakes before being relocated from Louisiana to Kansas. Hoping to offer fans a higher caliber of baseball, the city built a new multi-purpose home stadium for the team in downtown Wichita. Though the pandemic shut down their 2020 season before it started, the players are gearing up for training later this spring. Getting the turf in game-ready condition will be a priority, made easier with a new 170x170-foot RAINCOVER ULTRA™ infield tarp printed with both the team logo and team sponsor John Deere branding. Though already more than 200 pounds lighter than other available baseball field covers, handles and grommets placed every 10 feet around the perimeter make RAINCOVER ULTRA™ easy to handle and store on a new 30-foot TARPMATE™ field tarp roller with storage cover. Infield covers are an important part of any turf management program, drawing warmth into the field on colder days and minimizing heat buildup in the summer for cooler, drier turf. Offering 100-percent sunblock, RAINCOVER ULTRA™ baseball infield tarps have the strength and durability to withstand snow, ice, and hundreds of pounds of rainwater.

Louisville, KY - In Louisville, Kentucky, EVERGREEN® Turf Covers are helping to prepare the city’s soccer-specific stadium for the highly anticipated upcoming season. Pandemic-permitting, this will be the second season of play for the Louisville City FC after moving from Louisville Slugger Field to the newly built Lynn Family Stadium in 2020. Though this year’s schedule for the United Soccer League team is still up in the air, players and fans alike are ready to get back into the stadium. The Louisville Slugger Field’s former turf manager was hired by the football club to oversee field management at the new stadium after several seasons of successfully converting the baseball outfield into a soccer pitch for each FC game. The stadium soon acquired 104,000 square feet of turf blankets and five TARPMATE AIR™ Rollers, enough to cover the pitch in five sections and ready the turf for the upcoming season. EVERGREEN® Original turf growth blankets create a greenhouse effect by allowing sun, air, and moisture to penetrate the cover and reach the turf below. This helps to encourage earlier spring green ups and delay fall dormancy, leading to a longer growing season and thicker, more vibrant turf. Easily installed and removed, the frost covers also acts as a shield against adverse growing conditions and guards against frost in colder climates.
