PROTECTING THE BEAR’S DEN GYM FLOOR FROM SCRATCHES AND DENTS

University of Texas at El Paso - Noted for having a wide variety of undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate programs, the University of Texas at El Paso (more commonly referred to as UTEP) is also considered a public research university. Located on hilly terrain beside the Rio Grande River at the U.S. and Mexico border, UTEP’s campus is an architectural marvel, with buildings resembling those in Bhutan and Tibet. It also boasts Sun Bowl Stadium and the “Don” or “Bear’s Den” gymnasium facility.

More formally known as the Don Haskins Center, the 12,000-seat gymnasium is home to the UTEP Miners men’s and women’s basketball teams. It also hosts non-athletic events ranging from graduation and commencement ceremonies for UTEP and many other area schools to big name concerts by such artists as Shakira, Brittney Spears, and KISS. To continue to protect their Robbins Bio-Channel Star hardwood maple gymnasium floor, UTEP reached out to the world leader in sports surface protection, COVERMASTER®.

“One of the main reasons we contacted COVERMASTER® was the great customer service like their quick replies. It builds confidence in them and having one point of contact builds trust.” UTEP purchased 7,000 square feet of COVERMASTER® ULTIMA 5000™ heavy duty, extra thick, slip resistant gymnasium floor covering. It’s the ultimate gym floor cover providing protection against everything from high heels to staging, chairs, tables, and more. To store their new gym floor protection, UTEP also purchased a COVERMASTER ULTIMA SERIES COVERMATE ll™ gym floor cover handling system and to cut back on sweeping it, the ULTIMA SERIES COVERCLEAN™ BRUSH.
