 | Covermaster Excels Where the Conditions are Harsh and the Stakes are High |
|
The harsh climate in Dubai was a testament to the quality and versatility of Covermaster products. With the average temperature in Dubai sitting at 37-41°C (100-106°F) between the months of May-August and the threat of dust storms looming, a protective cover was needed to keep the dust off the pitch while maintaining moisture and sunlight. The Sports City Cricket Stadium assistant curator, Toby Lumsden needed a cover that would keep the pitch green and healthy for the opening match between two historic cricket giants, Pakistan and Australia, on April 22nd, 2009.
Harsh conditions were also met with high expectations. The Stadium, nicknamed “The Ring of Fire” for its advanced lighting system, was also world-renown for its playing surface. Meticulous attention to detail was shown in the construction and maintenance of the pitch, which simulates playing conditions on surfaces from three different continents. This groundbreaking concept required a top quality maintenance solution. Naturally, Covermaster stepped up to the wicket to come up with a solution.
A combination of Raincover Plus® and Evergreen Radiant Covers® was chosen to get the job done. Evergreen Radiant Covers®, Covermaster’s most advanced turf blankets, provided a lightweight solution that could withstand the harsh UV rays, while at the same time allowing for the grass to breathe and absorb moisture. The Raincover Plus® was used to solve the dust issue. It’s lightweight design and heat-reflecting properties were described as the “perfect fit” for the Cricket Stadium by the curator. Drawing from experience, Covermaster’s skilled team found the right solution to meet Sport City Cricket Stadium’s unique issues.
The covers arrived in February 09’ to ensure the Twenty:20 match held on the 22nd of April would be a success –which it was. This displayed once again how Covermaster’s wide range of top-quality products, combined with a skilled and knowledgeable staff can bring solutions to the most heated situations.
