Maturin, Venezuela - The Copa América 2007 was its 42nd edition and the main international football tournament for South America. The competition was organized by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body, and was held in Venezuela, who hosted the tournament for the first time.
The lead up to the tournament saw a lot of new stadium construction and renovation throughout Venezuela in its host cities. Wishing to leave a lasting legacy from the Copa América 2007 with it’s beautiful new facility, the Estadio Monumental de Maturin decided that turf protection was critical to the future success of their stadium.
After a long and exhaustive search of available turf protection products and the modest budget they had available, it was decided that the Portafloor EX3 System from Covermaster Inc. was the right product at the right price for their new Stadium. While they realized that there were less expensive products available that would fit into their budget, they were thorough in their research and discovered that only Portafloor EX3 could provide the protection they required, while staying connected under heavy foot traffic and the suns penetrating heat. As they learned through contacting references of various products, only Portafloor EX3 would stay together and protect their turf and the patrons on the floor. The convincing fact was the experience of the Hasely Crawford National Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Even with 41,000 enthusiastic party goers at the annual Carnival festivities for days on end, Portafloor EX3 withstood the rigors of the crowd and stayed together, all the while protecting the hallowed pitch.
The staff of the Estadio Monumental de Maturin enthusiastically took ownership of their new Portafloor EX3 system from the moment it was delivered. Easy to handle and store, the crew were experts on the ins and outs of the system from the very beginning. With their new Portafloor EX3 Turf Protection System, they are looking forward to many revenue generating events for years to come.
