The Curtain A COVERMASTER® ELECTRAFOLD gymnasium divider curtain is to be raised by lifting cables threaded through #5 spur grommets spaced no less than 18” (455 mm) apart vertically. Cables are to terminate at the lower pipe and are to be concealed in pockets. In the raised position the folds of the curtain shall hang alternately on each side of the bottom pipe accordion style. Curtains can be supplied in solid vinyl or with Fleximesh for the top portion.
Hardware The system shall include a thermally protected C flange reversing electric motor with a 60:1 double-output worm gear transmission sized and selected by the manufacturer. 1.9" (48 mm) diameter steel drive shafts shall be attached with flexible couplings to each output shaft of the gearbox. The drive shaft shall be supported by flange-mounted ball bearings at 10 ft (3056 mm) maximum spacing. A limit switch is to be connected directly on the drive shaft eliminating the need for belts and chain drives. The controls shall be directly accessible and contained in a supplied all steel enclosure. Electrical supply shall be 110 or 220 volt 20 amp single phase available within 3 ft. of the winch unless otherwise specified. A suitably located key switch box containing 3 wires connected from the control box is to be supplied by others. A key-operated 3 position-spring-loaded switch with suitable time delay shall be supplied for the control of curtain operation. Lifting cables shall be 1/8(3.175 mm) diameter 7 x 19 galvanized aircraft cable. Take-up reels shall be directly above grommet lines. The top pocket of the curtain shall contain a 1 .6"(40.6mm) diameter tube suspended by adjustable chains from the underside of the drive shaft support bearings. The bottom-lifting pipe shall also be a 1.6" (40.6 mm) diameter tube. All clamps and fasteners for the attachment of the winch and bearings to the underside of beams or joists are to be supplied. All load bearing fasteners to be Grade 5 steel. The drive shaft and all hardware are to be painted with gray primer.
Material The curtain shall be made of 18 oz. (.61 kg/m2) vinyl continuously welded with 1-1/8" (28.6 mm) overlapping seams. The top and bottom hems shall have end flaps to contain the support pipes. Curtain sides shall have double sewn hems. The curtain shall be made of all vinyl or the lower 10 ft. (3056 mm) in vinyl with the remaining upper section in Fleximesh. Curtain shall have either vertical or horizontal welded seams overlapping by 1-1/8" (28.6 mm) spaced at 5 ft. (1528 mm) intervals. The sides shall be hemmed over 2" (50 mm) and quadruple sewn to provide a clean durable edge. The bottom of the curtain shall form a pocket of 8" (203 mm) and double sewn with concealing pockets.
