Perkinston, MI - Mississippi has a climate known for its “feast or famine” qualities; sometimes it’s hot and dry and on other days, the rain can be heavy enough to cause flooding. And nothing puts a damper on a ball game like rain that just won’t go away.
So it’s no surprise that Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College decided to prepare for the worst, and that meant investing in baseball field tarps known for their durability and longevity. The school’s baseball and softball teams needed new baseball field covers for their diamonds, which were undergoing renovations prior to the start of this year’s baseball season.
They opted for a 170x170-foot Raincover Plus field tarp for the baseball team’s field — a product that’s popular with many MLB teams. The lightweight infield tarp has exceptional heat reflective properties, is highly UV stabilized and is designed to keep turf cool and dry. The softball team went a step further, choosing a 120x120-foot Raincover Max field tarp for its outstanding protection against inclement weather.
Both field tarps are made from cutting-edge materials that rival the durability of vinyl but are significantly lighter in weight. That makes installation and removal easier and less time-consuming — a benefit for any facility, from college baseball all the way up to the majors.
