Biloxi, MS, USA
- Covermaster is pleased to announce that the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, home of the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL, is the most recent facility to be added to the Terracover Ice family.
In September 2005 although most of the country’s focus was on New Orleans and the devastation created by Hurricane Katrina, the city of Biloxi Mississippi was trying to recover from their own devastation left by Katrina. The Mississippi Coast Coliseum, located directly on the shoreline of the Mississippi Sound, is the region’s preeminent facility for ice hockey, basketball, concerts and family shows. It was hit particularly hard by Katrina. Among equipment and furnishings that required replacement was the 13 year old ice covering system that was hand made by the staff of the MCC. Replacing such a durable system appeared to be an impossible task given that most systems on the market have a 3-5 year lifespan.
Bill Holmes, Executive Director and Matt McDonnell, Assistant Executive Director began the search. With a list of requirements and necessities that they were seeking in a
New system, they stopped by the Covermaster booth at the IAAM Conference and Trade Show in Salt Lake City, UT. It was clear they were on a mission to find the absolute best system available that suited ALL of their needs. After over a year of negotiations and correspondence, Bill and Matt decided that the Terracover Ice was the only way to go.
“We shopped around at the IAAM trade show for several years for an ice floor cover that was durable, functional, and easy to install. After looking at many products from composites to plastics, we settled on Terracover Ice. This product met our objectives and had the best finish for our non ice events. The staff at Covermaster worked with us to get the floor within our budget and has helped us with any questions we have had. This is the finest ice floor cover made.” Said Matt McDonnell.
During the recent installation of the product at the MCC, the staff was elated at the ease in which the system locked together on the ice. They were also surprised at the lightweight nature of the product. One staff member was overheard saying, “I can carry two of these!!” Equally as impressive is the ability to drive fork lifts with full loads of panels on the product, even when the ice is only partially covered with Terracover Ice panels. Others were impressed by the ability to turn the ice temperature up while the covers are in place which would directly result in energy consumption cost savings.
The Ice Center is yet another customer that was considering other products until they saw the Terracover Ice®
system in action. Once this system is seen, facility operators fall in love with its long list of unique features. The feed back from Terracover Ice users has been overwhelming. Nothing else compares to Terracover Ice®
