Mattituck, New York - This year, Long Island’s largest strawberry festival celebrated its 65th anniversary, bringing vendors and visitors together for four days of food and festivities. Hosted by the Mattituck Lions Club, the mid-June event annually draws thousands to Mattituck, New York just east of Long Island.
In an effort to protect the site’s natural turf, festival organizers decided to invest in temporary event flooring in the vendor section this year. The high traffic area benefited from 1,600 square feet of MasterShield Plus event flooring, helping to reduce damage to the grass and allowing continued growth.
The translucent snap design provides a temporary walkway that stands up to high volume pedestrian traffic. Easy to install and cost-effective, the panels have top ventilation holes that allow air and moisture to reach the turf below. A version for synthetic turf does the opposite by creating a barrier between spilled liquids and the artificial grass surface. Rounded support walls eliminate sharp bottom edges, preventing cutting of the natural turf or permanent indents in synthetic grass. The portable outdoor flooring can be quickly cleaned with a pressure washer and its lightweight design makes it simple to move and store.
The outdoor event flooring did its job so well that organizers are considering a purchase of additional flooring for next year’s festival.
