Baltimore, MD - Last year, M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland converted their synthetic turf to natural grass, installing close to 80,000 square feet of sod, after players requested a switch to the more forgiving surface. It’s similar to the surface that the Baltimore Ravens practice on at the Under Armour Performance Center in Owings Mills, Maryland.
There are three practice fields in Maryland that require ongoing maintenance, and part of that care includes choosing products designed to protect the turf throughout the winter season. That’s why Covermaster delivered 245,000 square feet of Evergreen Premium Turf Covers to the Maryland facility last fall, some new and some to replace covers purchased more than eight years ago.
Not only do turf blankets help to extend the growing season, but they can also prevent winter kill by protecting against wind, ice, snow and frost. Evergreen turf covers retain natural heat and moisture, increasing ground temperatures and helping to speed up seed germination.
Proven to promote deep root development, a winter turf blanket can also contribute to early spring greenup by as much as two to three weeks.
