Maryville, MO - Having a new indoor facility is upping the game for students at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. The highly-anticipated Hughes Fieldhouse, which celebrated its grand opening in mid-October, will allow the school’s athletic teams to practice for the upcoming season, without the limitations of winter weather.
But game preparedness is just one of the benefits. Designed as a multi-purpose venue, the 137,250-square-foot, $20-million facility is the ideal location for non-athletic events such as graduation ceremonies and homecoming celebrations. And thanks to specialized turf protection, the synthetic turf field will be able to withstand the wear and tear that often comes with large gatherings.
The school brought in 51,000 square feet of MasterShield Lite™ portable event flooring, ideal for pedestrian traffic and light equipment. Another 5,000 square feet of heavy-duty MasterShield Trax™ can serve as a temporary roadway — tough enough to stand up to forklifts, large trucks, and cranes. Versatile transition strips bridge the two types of turf protection mats, creating a single floor surface.
Both Covermaster turf protection products are easy to install and remove, and use an interlocking design to create a smooth, continuous surface. Quick and easy to install and remove, pressure-washing the slip-resistant surface when required ensures that the temporary event flooring is ready for the next event.
