Los Angeles, CA - Soccer fans have only weeks to wait before the newest Major League Soccer expansion team hits the home field, after winning their season opening on the road The Los Angeles Football Club, or LAFC, has been a long time in the making since the team was first established in 2014.
The season’s home opener is scheduled for April 29 at the newly-constructed Banc of California Stadium in LA’s Exposition Park neighbourhood, next to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. New sod was laid on both fields in late February, and the getting the turf ready for play meant investing in a proven turf management system, and head groundskeeper Gio Murillo had no doubt that Evergreen Turf Covers would be his product of choice.
No stranger to the high-quality turf blankets — he used them during his time at the StubHub Center in Carson, California — Murillo invested in new Evergreen Radiant turf covers for both the stadium and the team’s practice facility. Three turf growth blankets were ordered for each facility, along with three inflatable rollers designed to make installation, removal, and storage of the covers easier than ever.
Evergreen Radiant growth blankets radiate additional heat back into the soil to promote faster turf growth and earlier spring green-ups. This greenhouse effect produces thicker grass with improved color, and also shields the playing surface from adverse growing conditions. Each turf cover is UV-treated, rot- and mildew-resistant, and stands up to intense sunlight.
