Mississauga, Canada - Though the global pandemic has taken students out of the classroom across North America, there’s still activity going on behind the scenes. A new order of gym floor carpet was shipped recently to the University of Toronto Mississauga in Mississauga, Ontario, ensuring the campus is ready for a new school year and future non-athletic events.
Platinum EasyRoll™ gym carpet is replacing an older vinyl floor cover, allowing the university to create a more formal setting for exams, graduations, and other special events. Not only does carpet for gym floors offer sound-deadening properties, but the Velcro-connected sections are stain-resistant, simple to clean and store, and specifically designed to protect gymnasium floors from damage caused by chairs, staging equipment, and high heels.
The order was customized to accommodate the gym’s bleachers located on one side the court. Sixteen of the 23 carpet sections, each measuring 104 feet in length, were split at the 75-foot mark to create a shortened section when the bleachers are extended. The extra 29-foot piece can be reattached by Velcro to cover the entire floor, creating a seamless look that’s achieved by overlapping two pieces of carpet and cutting both at the same time.
After each event, the roll out carpet is removed and stored on Platinum Series CoverMate™ storage racks using a PowerMate™ heavy-duty winder. Platinum EasyRoll™ carpet uses multi-layer construction for optimum gym protection and performance, combining a surface-friendly bottom layer with a non-porous core and 100-percent polypropylene yarn surface.
