Philadelphia, PA - Time wasn’t standing still at the University of Pennsylvania as the school rushed to source temporary event flooring for Franklin Field this fall.
Dating back to 1895 and considered the NCAA’s oldest stadium still hosting football games, the field is the university’s hub for football, track and field, lacrosse, intramural and club sports, and graduation ceremonies. In order to set up VIP seating areas on part of the field and track, the university needed portable event flooring that could protect the turf from high pedestrian traffic.
They found a fast and effective solution in MasterShield Plus, a portable outdoor flooring system that is easy to install, cost-effective, and safe for natural turf. A shipment of 4,000 square feet arrived in late September, followed by an order for specialty edging that snaps on to MasterShield Plus to create a transition between the one-inch-high temporary walkway and the ground.
The temporary walkway’s translucent material and top ventilation holes allow sunlight, air, and moisture to pass through to the turf below. Rounded support walls prevent damage or cutting of the turf and the “Diamond Plate” tread pattern creates a slip-resistant surface for pedestrians. Easy removal, cleanup, and storage makes it the ideal choice for many stadium events.
