New Milford, NJ - Melting snow, heavy rainfall, and rising floodwaters can put a damper on low-lying sports fields. That’s why New Milford High School in New Milford, New Jersey turned to flood protection covers to keep their track and synthetic turf field protected from the elements.
Covermaster® worked with FieldTurf, a world-leading provider of artificial turf systems, to supply the customized athletic field covers. Two D-shaped end zone sections were designed to follow the rounding of the track at each end of the athletic field and an additional five sections, attached with Velcro closures, fill in the balance of the field. They also ordered seven TarpMate™ inflatable air rollers for easier handling and storage.
The school is located near the flood-prone Hackensack River. By installing the field covers as needed during the winter and spring months, they’ll be able to keep the artificial turf’s infill from becoming contaminated by silt from potential floodwaters.
Both lightweight and heavy-duty field tarps are available to meet any sports field’s requirements. Combining strength and durability, field covers resist dirt accumulation and hold up to the weight of hundreds of pounds of water. Vinyl-reinforced handles with center grommets spaced 10 feet apart help spread the load and make removal faster and easier.
