Bridgeview, IL - Many years ago, Covermaster® supplied Evergreen® turf covers to the newly constructed Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois, home to the Chicago Fire soccer club. Today, the soccer-specific venue is known as SeatGeek Stadium and the 20,000-capacity facility and it’s accompanying practice fields are keeping the turf in game-ready condition with 180,000 square feet of new Evergreen® Radiant turf blankets.
The MLS team has been returning to Soldier Field in Chicago for home games, but SeatGeek Stadium still houses the team’s administrative staff and maintains two practice pitches. The new turf blankets, along with 10 custom TarpMate Air™ rollers, will be instrumental in keeping the fields ready for training days.
What makes Evergreen® Radiant so effective is its specialized silver coating that radiates heat back into the soil, creating a greenhouse effect that promotes faster growth and earlier spring greenups. It can also delay fall dormancy, creating a longer growing season that results in thicker turf. Evergreen® can be easily installed and removed, protecting turf from sudden drops in temperature, frost, and other harsh environmental conditions.
The more often turf covers are used, the greater the benefit. Keeping winter turf blankets on the field during the coldest months pays off in the spring with an earlier start to the growing season. Turf growth blankets encourage continued healthy growth into the spring.
