Fountain, CO - When flags and mock rifles are thrown and spun into the air, a gymnasium floor could take quite a beating without proper gym floor protection. During the 2023 construction of the new 4,000-seat, $40 million Trojan Arena for Colorado’s Fountain-Fort Carson High School, the contractor wanted maximum protection for the gym floor. It was essential that marks, dents, and other potential damage from multi-use events were avoided including from Winter Guard – the indoor color guard sport of U.S. schools, drum corps and marching bands.

The contractor not only wanted to provide the ultimate in gym floor protection but needed to have the flexibility of different configurations depending on how many sections of bleachers were used. Based on prior experience with COVERMASTER®, he selected PLATINUM EASYROLL™ gym carpet rolls. This multi-layered gym carpet system has a 100% Polypropylene yarn top surface, a LEAKBLOCK™ Core that prevents spills from reaching the floor, and a bottom layer of fiber that protects the wood gym floor surface below.

COVERMASTER® worked with the contractor to ensure that over 30 thousand square feet of PLATINUM EASYROLL™ gym carpet rolls were customized in various lengths to provide multiple configurations of gym floor protection. From full gym floor coverage to specific gym floor areas, PLATINUM EASYROLL™ roll out carpets could be adapted to a variety of layouts. For quick and easy installation and removal, eight PLATINUM SERIES COVERMATEL™ mobile storage racks with heavy duty POWERMATE™ power winders were also ordered. Now, Winter Guard competitors could pitch, hurl, and throw flags and mock rifles without fear of damaging the new gymnasium floor at Trojan Arena.
